The PfS is a consulting and testing organization for radiation protection and X-ray technology.
In Germany the PfS is officially appointed as an expert organization for the implementation of the German radiation protection legislation.

The PfS offers a wide range of engineering services, such as

• Safety- and functional test of x-ray equipment
• Advice to manufacturers and users of medical X-ray systems
• Radiation protection planning
• Dosimetry

The beginnings go back to the end of the 1980s. For the authority (SAAS) responsible for radiation protection in the GDR at the time, radiation protection dosimetric measurements were carried out on newly built X-ray systems. After “WOLF Medizintechnik (WOmed)” began its work in 1990 (in Gera, later St.Gangloff) , the founder of WOmed, Andreas Wolf, was appointed by public authorities in Thuringia and Saxonia as an officially appointed expert in 1991. Since 1991 PfS has carried out hundreds of cyclical tests on medical X-ray systems.

In 2021 we have celebrated the 30th anniversary of the PfS.
